This time, I’ll be sharing my ferry journey from Kure City in Hiroshima Prefecture to Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture. Exploring the Interior of the Seapaseo
The ferry is divided into three floors: the first floor is for vehicles, the second is the main floor, and the third is the rooftop deck. On the second floor, you’ll find amenities like a snack shop, restrooms, and vending machines, ensuring a comfortable experience throughout the journey. There are also spacious seats and a tatami area where you can relax during the trip.
There’s a wide variety of seating options as well. You can choose to sit at the front to watch the waves, or kick off your shoes and relax in comfort. Additionally, there are plenty of charging stations available, so you won’t have to worry about your devices running out of battery during the long journey.
The Tatami Area with a Serene Japanese Atmosphere
One of the highlights of the Seapaseo is the unique tatami area. It’s rare to find a traditional Japanese space on a ferry, and here you can relax on the tatami mats, enjoying the serene atmosphere. Highlights of the Ferry Ride — Ondo Bridge
During the journey, the ferry passes under the “Ondo Bridge,” a famous landmark in Kure City known for its striking red color. The moment the ferry glides beneath the bridge is a special experience, offering a unique perspective. As you pass under the bridge, you can enjoy the sensation and take in the scenic views of Kure City, making this one of the highlights of the trip.
Local Gourmet Experience at the Onboard Shop
At the onboard shop, you can enjoy local specialties and gourmet treats from Hiroshima and Ehime. This time, I tried a local Ehime specialty—ice cream topped with a “dango” (sweet dumpling). Priced at ¥550, the experience of enjoying this treat while gazing at the ocean was a special indulgence. Underneath the ice cream, there was a layer of cornflakes, adding a delightful texture contrast. Afterward, I also enjoyed a cup of coffee, which helped me relax and unwind from the journey.
Arrival in Matsuyama — The End of a Fun Journey
The ferry safely arrived at Matsuyama Port in Ehime Prefecture. As I stepped off the ship, the sights of Matsuyama City spread out before me. Although the Seapaseo was set to depart for Hiroshima again, and there was a hint of sadness at the journey’s end, it also left me with growing anticipation for the next adventure.
